Solving Proportion Problems

In Proportion

Proportions are all about equivalent relationships. They come in handy for scaled drawings, rate problems, percentages, word problems, and many other applications. Solving proportions algebraically is a skill you need for the GED® and for life.

STEP 1: WATCH THE VIRTUAL CLASS VIDEO AND TAKE NOTES

Make sure to note the following:

What is a proportion problem? Simply put, it's equal relationships. Mathematically, it looks like equal fractions with a missing value. Solving for that missing value is simple! Just cross multiply to get rid of those pesky fractions, then follow the basic process of solving equations that you learned last lesson.
