The RLA Extended Response Essay
Share
Here's what you need to know about the RLA Extended Response Essay:
- The essay is worth 6 "raw points" about 20% of your final RLA score. You CAN skip the essay and still pass RLA (and many people do) but it can be a quick way to pick up a few points, especially for mid-level readers
- You will be given 45 minutes to read two articles, then write an essay analyzing them
- The writing prompt is ALWAYS the same: "Analyze which of the two articles makes a stronger argument."
- The essay is NOT graded on the GED Ready practice test so if you want essay feedback you will need to use the rubric to grade yourself or get someone else to do that for you
